I am looking for the best bang for the buck in canister filters for my 55G. quiet would be the best too... I dont want to have to run a HOB for bio if I dont have too....

I use a Rena XP3 on my 55 but also a HOB. The HOB is not really necessary but I like lots of filtration & my fish like water movement. It's my only canister but I like it.
 
I think I will get the Marineland C-360.... Sounds like exactly what I want. I wanted one that had bio filtration too.
Good choice?
 
I have had good luck with the fluval 403 and fluval 404. The new version , 405, replaces the 404. The only thing is the lines are ribbed, so I usually flush mine every year and half to get the clean again.
 
I would also recommend the XP3 or one of the eheim classic filters. They're a great value and can be found under 100 dollars, sometimes.
