OK

1. How long does it take for a female rcs to give birth. Mine is about a day or two pregnant.
2.How often to i have to introduce rcs from other breeders to increase diversity?
3. A little of topic but would a cardina that has a larval stage interbreed with one that doesn't?

Thanks!!!

typically 2-3 weeks, closer to 3 weeks for the babies to be born. I try and add new stock every couple of months, not sure how frequently its actually necessary. Most people are willing to do a swaperoo. What caridina species are you trying to mix?

dont think its possible different stages of breeding. i think a year or two before you should add new blood. though i am like msj i have new stock almost every month.

The only Caridina that interbreed are closely related. Crystal Red, Bee and Tiger shrimp will interbreed, however, Bumblebee shrimp will not (also a Caridina species). A major problem to breeding these shrimp is there is little accurate scientific data concerning these species of shrimp.

Making matters worse, there is confirmed incorrect data regarding to species and in some cases genus naming among shrimp species. It is unknown how many species of shrimp remain undefined as the scientific community, as a whole, has not focused on correcting the problems. Adding to the confusion is the practice used by breeders and hobbyists around the glob of using generic common names for multiple species of shrimp (Ghost shrimp), and multiple common names for the same species of shrimp (Red Cherry, Fire Shrimp, and many others).
