So I was doing research into the x10 control interface world, and I am now seriously confused, wondering if anybody has any experience.

The idea would be to control the x10 unit from my reefcon pro software hosted on a file server at the opposite end of the house. I can access this server remotely, so that makes it particularly convenient.

In order to do this, the way I see it is I would need:

An inteface cable from the server to a wall socket unit.
A wall socket unit of some sort to transmit across the AC lines
A wall socket unit on the other side of the house near the tank
A controller unit of some sort, like an aquacontroller, that is able to interface with the x10 wall unit.
An 8 port power outlet that can be controlled throug the x10 interface

Problem is, the aquacontrollers seem to indicate they can control x10 appliances but not necessarily be controlled by them. Is this the case?

Or, is there a cheaper way to do this? Do they simply make multi socket x10 reciever units so that I would not need an aquacontroller. I realise i would lose the ability to monitor water conditions... but just for arguments sake? I can not seem to find anything with more than one outlet.

Personally I cannot answer your questions. I know some about x10 but not enough for definitive answers for you.

If I were you, I would hunt up an X10 users group somewhere. There has to be several.. They would probably be able to answer your questions definitively AND point out other things you don't yet realize.
