I promised my self I would never get any coral, just because I really didn't want the cost and effort I hear is involved. Well, today at my LFS, my buddy who works there gave me a piece of coral and I don't know what to do with it. It is about 5 Polyps (I think thats the term) of some sort of Zoo's on a tid bit of rock the size of a quarter. I wedged it in a crevice in another rock but the two bigger pieced seem to just be hanging on. Do I do anything to secure them or do I just let them fly off and hope they find a rock to cling too?

u can put a drop of super glue gel on the bottom and stick them back to the rock, that usually works well from what i hear

Agreed, what lighting do you have? Assuming you have proper lighting, zoo's are very low maintenance as far as corals go.

I have the All-Glass 15w bulbs that came with my tank...... Suer glue as in normal household super glue?

2 bulbs.. 55g I wasn't really wanting to do any coral but it was free so what the hey, right? Do Corals find their own anchors? Can they move them self's?

they will die due to lack of lighting. They will turn white when they get bleached. I also doubt you have proper levels of ca2 and dkh.

Agreed...coral is not the kind of thing you can just toss in and try out. Well yo ucan but it will be a failed experiment, free or not. You really need to plan for it and have a proper setup, so there's a good chance it won't last too long.
