I got this frag..it looks like a colt coral but the LFS guy had no idea so ..one guy says he knows it's from fiji and non-photsynthetic..any ideas..it's so purdy..a hot pink/purple

It is one of the non-photosynthetic Neptheid corals--could be one of several genera, including Scleronephthya and Dendronephthya or something similar.
 
so doing some research on the net i found out that i have Deodronephthya sp.
it is a filterfedder like featherdusters and non-photsynthetic so i will be buying plenty of phytoplankton lol heres a really cool pic of a tank with carnation corals

it's a pretty small frag..about 4 inches when puffed up up..i moved it to the lower part of my tank where there is a overhang..i wish they would of told me it was a harder coral but I am happy that i did not pay a tremendous amount


..thats what i get for thinkinig it was a colt coral of some kind l use NSW and do a 10% waterchange every week and will start feeding more DT's..hopefully this will help

i have one yellow and orange , i didnt know what it was and it was looking bad .
I started feeding it 2x a day now and it looks great .
I find it will show me when it is ready for feeding by looking even more prettier .
You have one pretty frag there :-)
