Looks like you got a nice amount of rocks to work with. I am pretty sure your tank is large enough that you can pull off separate rock structures. Try dividing it into two rock piles that have cliffs and overhangs.

Yeah I agree, I've always liked the two bommie look. Maybe make one bigger pile at one end and one smaller pile at the other, so there is a sand gap near the middle (but not right in the center which can look a bit odd). Just an idea.

I have my 75g aranged with 2 different rock islands, I love it. I havent added corals yet (has to cycle) but it gives lots of open room for fish, and places for the coral to grow out into.

what I did was took a large boulder or two and used it as a base, then built the islands off of that, it looks really good and gives plenty of crevices for fishies and shrimpies.

I would agree that your tank is large enough and that you have sufficient rock to create two separate areas. It appears that the rock is in good quantity but perhaps small in size, so I would recommend using reef putty or some other similar product for the aquascape. You can use rubble to support at the lower levels of the build.

I would suggest in the LH corner that you build a slopeing wall and then a small outcropping on the right. The rock you have looks like it would make a good wall and you already appear to be touching the glass in the back and on the sides (which I have done as well in my 70).

I should have asked before just blurting out one of a thousand possibilities...what do you want to achieve. Are you going mostly corals? limited reef?

i set my tank up so that it is open on the left and right sides with a large structure in the middle. it reminds me of a nano reef but in a larger scale. also i really love the two structures as long as it has different sized mounds.

Here is a pic of my two month old tank, kind of what people above are talking about.

I have one island against one side because of the overflow btw.

lanimret- Great layout! Usually I don't like the totally packed/stacked look, but you pulled it off nicely. The left side looks like a pretty reef wall covered in coral.

Did not mean to threadjack there!

Getting those rocks all stable was a serious excercise in patience. One return pipe is hiding near that anemone on the left side, coming out of the rocks.

My goal was really to hide as much of the equipment as possible. I've been hesitant to post any pictures actually because I feel like its still a little bare. Thanks for the comments :)

my old tank (37g) had the "wall of rock" which was ok but was pretty limiting for the fish. now in my 75g i have the rock such that there are many openings for the fish to swim in and out of. the fish LOVE it. i planned on having 2 separate rock "islands" but it didn't exactly work out that way... im happy with how it is but mostly the fish are happy and i have plenty of places to put corals. the best part is the rock is in the middle of the tank so the fish can swim all around and through it which is just so nice for them (and easy to clean the glass all around). you can see pics in my sig if you'd like :)
