I have these snails in my fry tank. They magically appeared in one of my other tanks and have gotten about the size of nickel. Can someone please identify them for me so I can get some information about them? I already have eggs.

Thank you guys so much. Now I can do a bit of research. Does anyone know anything about them? I like them (they are kinda neat), but do not want them taking over my tank or eating the plants either.

They breed readily with a food source (algae, leftover food, decaying plant matter) but do not typically eat healthy live plants. I have them in all 12 of my planted tanks without issue. If there numbers increase, i pick them out and squish them to feed the fish and also increase gravel vacs and decrease feeding. I really enjoy them in my tanks, i have red/orange, leopard spotted, and brown. I consider them an asset, but many will call them a pest. They are hemaphroditic, so do not need a partner to reproduce.

they breed like mad!! But I have learned to take away the food sourse for most of them and there for no more eggs laid.
But in my other tank I did not know there was any in there, I took out the rest of my plastic plants today to get a good look at the tank and finally go all real plants and found the plastic plants were loaded with eggs. they went by by. some of the snails went into the "big tank with the big guys.... they made quick snacks of them.

I got some from Msjinkzd on purpose. I like them. They have picked the corner of the tank they like to lay eggs in and I am looking forward to babies. I am lucky though, I have multiple tanks so I don't have to squish them like jinkz does to feed some fish. ;)

I'm thinking of taking a few of the red ones she sent me and putting them in my new tank, hoping I only get red babies.
