and where can I get the base rock?

Im planning on doing a FOWLR tank and I dont have the money to be getting a pure live rock tank, so I was thinking about seeding half to 2/3 of the base rock with live rock. I have a 30 gallon and was planning on getting just 10-15 lbs of live rock.

so final question: what kind of rock can I use as a base rock (that will become live) and where can I get it?

Most suppliers sell what they call base rock for much less than live rock. We used a couple of pieces of what is called tuffa rock mainly because we liked the shapes of those pieces.
