clean up crew confusion

ok my tank has been set up for a month or so. It finished cycling about two weeks ago. And for the past week i had a nice brown algae bloom. Is it time to add a clean up crew? I have a 40 gal fowlr, may eventualy be reef. Which of what should i get and how many? I have read up on clean up crews but havent found anything that tells me how many of different one's i should get.

If \your ammonia and nitrItes are zero and your nitrates have been <5 constantly for a week then yes, you're ready to add your clean up crew (CUC). Ignore any packages you may see. I often find that they supply you with way too many critters that end up starvinf to death when they've eaten what is available. The best way is to buy a few and see how they get on with keeping your tank clean.

Depending on what critters you want, I'd start off with about 3 snails and 3 crabs and see how you get on.
