I purchase some Ottos a few days ago so they could help control my brown algae, they are doing a semi-good job (the wont eat the stringy brown/black algae growing on my anubias), but yesterday i saw one of them "cleaning" one of my corys!!. And on closer inspection the cory has what looks like a 'red inflamation" on the backside of his dorsal fin, near its body. Could the Ottos have become carnivores??? Anyone had any experience with this kind of behavior? And while i'm at it, whats the best fish to eat stringy brown/black algae?

Stringy algae sounds like a job for the Florida Flagfish or Rosy Barb.

Some Ottos (actually some members of most Loricariid species) will decide to get nutrients from fish slime...they should probably be isolated from the fish that seem to be attacked the most, if not all fish...there is more info on Ottos, especially "Attack Ottos", toward the bottom of this page.
