I recently had a leak in my fresh water tank and had to tear it down, strip it and resilicone. 3 weeks ago I set it back up, water tested, and began to cycle. There are no fish in it yet, but today I turned on the light just to take at look, and noticed something scary. It was a thin white ribbon of what I thought was SILICONE! floating on the vertical edge of the tank. I began to investigate, thinking the worst. Luckly I discovered it was just a thick , white film??? then I began to ask myself from what. I have had set up my fair share of tanks, and I have never seen anything like this before, keeping in mind Ive also never resealed a tank. I should also state that one variable had changed this time round. During the cleaning process I broke the piece of glass that sits in the lid and seperates the UV bulb, from the aquarium water. When the tank was set up before I decided this bulb I have was too intense for the room, I wrapped the light with some automotive window tint until I got the desired effect. The only problem is now there is no glass to keep the water from condensating on the light bulb. Could this heavy white film be related to the window tint? ANY thoughts on the matter would be appeciated.THX
