Wavemakers?

I want to get a wavemaker when I start getting corals. I am getting soft corals because i have PC lights Coralife 260 w/lunar to be exact. Anyways what is a good wavemaker? How do they work? What should I be looking for in terms of brand and type? I have seen ones that are like surge protectors that alternate flow I guess? Then there are ones that hang in the tank. I have a 72 gallon tank. Suggestions? Thanks!
 
There are all kinds. You should probably just google for them.

The prices run all over the place too. From about $80 to $1000.
 
I know but what kind is good for what purpose? I would like to know what experiences people here have with them and what they would recommend.
 
Might I also add that I don't have any external power heads. I have my pump attached to the return pipe that comes out of the overflow and is pointed in 2 directions (one to the left wall and one to the middle of the tank)
 
The sea swirl one is pretty interesting...it attaches to your existing return and it has a motor that rotates it...but my overflow is in the corner of the tank almost...wouldn't it be better to have it in the middle? Should I get a power head and attach my pump and the power head to a timer wave maker?
 
Yes the sea swirl looks like a shoe-in for your set up. I'd ask around about reliability. I know not.
 
Anyone have a tunze wavebox? It looks killer.
