Howdy all!! Haven't been here for a while. Just wanted to ask how firemouths I could comfortably fit in a 37 tall?? The care sheet here says I can have a group in a 35 gallon. How many would that be considered??? Thanks!

(BTW, please disregard my signature area, I won't have the same fish after this weekend.... moving!)

Maybe 2 or 3 max in a 37H. What are the dimensions of that tank?

Keep in mind that hideouts will be necessary to keep the peace.

Hrmmm a 37gal tall only has the same footprint as a 29gal right? 30x12" I think? If so, I would try for a breeding pair...I don't think you would want to have more than that in that size tank.

Here in a year or two, I am gonna have either a 75 gal or 100 gal (which ever I can afford). I gonna keep the 37 tall to use as a reptile tank of some sort!! With 75 to 100 gals to play with, the possibilities are endless!! Woo hoo!!

I am not going to use the AC300 once I get the bigger tank, I WILL keep my filstar though. What would be a good HOB filter or other filter to use along with the canister for the 75 to 100 gallon tanks??? Thanks!!

The ac300 + xp3 might be fine for your larger tank...all comes down to how much of a bioload you will have. You can add extra value to your ac300 by adding a 2nd foam insert and a bag of biomedia like I have on mine. I use 2 sponges + a bag of the fluval biomax rings...the eheim or seachem matrix works as well. You can always add a sponge filter as a prefilter to your ac300 as well.

I find that the penguins once the biowheels are established work wonderfully, I have two penguin 330's with three cichlids and catfish on a 100 gallon, check my www for details, and I have no biofiltration issues, water parameters are great. The only thing is I want to add something like a filstar or ehiem for mechanical filtration. but what I have is suffiecent for now. Once my fish get bigger I will add the third filter.
