I really hate to part with her, but she's all alone since the male jumped out. She's EXTREMELY smart, very alert and clever. She's too smart to be alone in my little tank and I think she'd like a mate or at least a larger community tank with other fish to interact with.

Originally wild-caught in Indonesia, bought from Fantasy Aquatic on aquabid in February. She's eating Hikari dried bloodworms now, an aggressive feeder, but she gets along well with the white clouds and ottos she shares the tank with. Three inches long, a dusky brown color with horizontal stripes, dark markings along her face and fin edges. Very healthy and like I said, very, very smart.

Location is southern California. I will ship through UPS only, next day or second day, whichever you prefer. I'm asking $30 total, shipping is included in that. Its what I paid for her. PM if interested. Thanks.

Photos- the first shot shows her coloring best.
She's flash-shy so these are just available-light snapshots.

I'm near you. I'm setting up a 10 gal in about a month and will take her if she hasn't found a home by then, in which case she'll have a nice sorority :)

Edit: Don't know why I didn't say this in the first place, she'll probably be gone by then, of course. Just as a backup plan.

You also gave me an idea of what to do in my ten gal :)

Just for future reference all wild Betta tanks need to be securly covered and don't underestimate how small a hole they can get out of.

We have been looking for real unimaculata for quite a while but since the whole complex has undergone revision many of the species that used to be called unimaculata are now assigned other species names.

I do keep members of this complex and unimaculata was always one of my favorites. They are intelligent as you point out and also can make a good fish pet, eating out of your hand and doing all sorts of things you would not expect out of such a fish.

Yes, the tank was securely covered until the cat came over and tried to swat at the fish while sitting top of the tank, dislodging the plastic edge on the glass top just enough to leave a 1/2 inch hole.

Are you interested in giving her a new home? I would love for her to go to someone with wild betta experience rather than someone who just likes the look/idea of them.
