I am in the process of putting a 10g and a 20long on a rack. I plan on building a shelf over both tanks to hold supplies and co2 equipment. I want to put one flourescent light under it (two bulbs, probably T5) that will be for both tanks. With that, I still need space to access the tanks for cleaning and such. So....how far off the top of the tank should the lights be to maintain intensity for plants?

Let me know if you need more info.

Thx as always

they should be fine even a foot above it more so with good reflectors.

I have heard that anything less than 2 feet will not have an impact on intensity...
