What should be the best food? I'm talking about fries that are too small to feed on baby brine shrimps.

Can I get away by feeding the packaged food such as AP Liquifry #1 for egg layers, or Hikari 1st bytes?

Hikari 1st bites sounds good. I use that for my baby cons.
