Ok, where'd you put the eggs?

What process do shrimp eggs undergo on the way out of the shrimp? Are they deposited somewhere or do they hatch and free-swim as larvae rather quickly?

I don't mind if they've been eaten by my betta or something, but I'm kinda curious as my ghost shrimp which had eggs no longer does, and there's no sign of 'em.

I believe ghost shrimp lay the fertilized eggs in plant thickets (e.g. moss or guppy grass), then the eggs hatch. Odds are pretty good your betta would go to town on baby shrimp.

ahh, so they may be stuffed in the thick patches of wisteria I have...we'll see if any survive to adulthood.

For most shrimp, the shrimplets hatch from the saddle of the mother and walk away.
