Has anyone else been to a church or chthedral where this is the practice?
I attended the Baccalaureate Mass for my elder kid's graduating class and found that the restrooms in the cathedral were locked. I was informed by a "regular" there that this is common practice.
For me, it was truly the year's most "WTF" moment (so far).

That's crazy, when you gotta go you gotta go!!! Maybe the think that people wont get up during the middle of a service to use the restroom so there wont be interruptions?

most likely thats the case. some places it might be a "sin" to interrupt the preacher during a sermon or whatever its called.

That makes about as much sense as my supposition that, being a very old building, maybe the water closets and pipe organ have some plumbing in common.

I've never heard of such a thing. What are people with small children supposed to do?

I think it would be more of a sin to dirty the pews than to visit the restroom during the service...
