This is my 35gallon tank with 5 yellow-orange cichlids and 4 electric blue. I also have 2 janitors... How do I know if I have male and female cichlids? I was hoping they will propragate in the tank. Thank you very much.:help:

My plants have been there for quite some time now, but it still looks healthy...I regularly feed the fish so that they will layoff the plants (hopefully)

Your "janitors" are common plecos. They're not janitors and will never allow the tank cleaner than the one without them as these excrete wastes heavily. If I were you, sell them.

It would probably be more authentic and comfortable (to "set the mood") if there were rockier hiding spaces in the tank. i also don't really care for the cheesy diver, but that's your choice.

also, breeding-wise, if they're satisfied with the water conditions (temp, chemistry, pH, hardness...) that might also spur them on.

and then you just put on some barry white...

those are not electric blues! they may be cobalt blues but would need better photos to clarify. Ditch the plants and get rocks to make a more natural habitat. P.h 7.5-8-5 and make the water hard.

You will need to post cleared shots of each fish close up for positive verification.

I agree that if you make the habitat as 'natural' as possible, ditching the plants for a bunch of rock work, and getting the pH to 8.0-8.5 and the water hard (if it's not already), it will encourage them to spawn.
