Alright. ill tell you my setup..and my sort-of problem.

I have a 50 Ga. Hexagonal Tall Tank. I currently have 3 smaller crayfish. Maybe 2 inches or a little bigger. I have a 4 inch dragon goby, a Green spotted puffer, and a decent size bala shark. i have a huge log, and 3 cave type things and a plastic plant 2 snails....and a few pond snails for my puffer. a problem i am having is that my new dragon is having trouble sharing the bottom with my crayfish (thats why i added the log) im thinking it will be ok in a few days. another question or concern i have is that i keep reading that the dragons like brackish water. i also read that the puffer does as well. how would a little salt effect the other fish?:help: other than that im thinkin of adding another puffer tomorrow for company.

ps i thought it was so cool when i saw the puffer attack and eat the snail.:headbang2:

lol its hard to make a choice seeing on as now i have no choice cuz i already have him. great now im scared.

Hi bumpylemon! Welcome to AC! There's tons of good info here, and lots of really friendly, helpful people!

Don't be scared, but you do have to make a choice as to whether you will have a brackish tank for the the puffers and goby, or to keep the crays and stay with a freshwater tropical tank. The Bala will get too big for even a 50g, and quickly! In order to have the happiest, healthiest fish possible, you have to take someone(s) back to your local fish shop (lfs). The salt required for the puffer/goby will kill the others, and the lack of salt will kill the puffer/goby..... I know it's hard, but you need to choose what is best for your fish.

Ask lots of questions here, and you can make the best choice for everyone.

I believe the puffer needs full marine once an adult? The goby is Brackish and the Bala is fresh water...so yea, you have to decide or set up another tank or two...but the Bala will need a much bigger tank.

Good luck with everything..I know it is hard trying to make decisions like this. I've been there more then once when starting out:grinyes:

ok well i have made a decision....i am getting another tank. I emailed a couple people off of craigslist.

My question now is what are the time lines for these freshwater to brackish water to full marine? im willing to do this. im gonna bring back the bala tomorrow. almost think i should bring back the goby too. which i dont wanna do. but i cant have 3 tanks. so thats what i am gonna need to do.

I love how dedicated you are to having happy fishies! Your bala will go to a home where it can grow up big and strong! Good luck with the tank hunting! I can't wait to see pics of your new setups!

You are making the right choice, bumpy.
