Just wanted to share..... Last night we went to Petsmart for a cuttlebone for my snails and of course, I looked at the fish. We picked up a clown pleco for $3.00!!!! He is coloring up well in our tank, and went to town on an algae wafer as soon as he was released! Pics as soon as I can catch him out and about! :)

nice pickup, hurry with the pics! :grinyes:

Sounds great!

Wow, great find! :D I paid 5x that for my little guy :wall:

...or not.... after 24 hours in a clean tank, with food and plants, he's no longer stripey (i swear, he looked like an ill clown plec!), but now he's spotty! Really spotty! I will post pics when I get them, but so far planetcatfish searches have been fruitless...... boo!

I've had my clown loach for about a year and he is quite a character.
When he sees me at the front of the tank, he postions himself in the middle of the tank and looks at me square on as if to say, I'm here ready and waiting for my food!
Sometimes I even see his eyes flash, as if he had eyelids (Not too sure what this is, but it's quite cool to see, a bit like frogs eyes).

As for the colouration, well mines a bit of a chameleon, he seems to change from a light yellow/brown to a much darker black/brown.
It doesn't appear to be due to his mood or what he eats as he can change his colouration in minutes, it might have more to do with the colour of the driftwood or cave he has chosen to hang out on at the time.

If your clown pleco is like mine then I wouldn't unduly worry about his change of appearance, it could be him just literally blending in to his surroundings.
