Hi: Retired 65 year old FW tank enthusiast was surfing another site and found you here. Married for an awful long time, 7 grandchildren so far and one great grandchild. Recently moved from Cape Cod MA to Cape Fear, (Leland) NC. We did not try to move plants and livestock as we were very fortunate to be able to give it away to a person that was expanding her FW setups.

Started our low-light 20 gallon hex first with an anubia, java fern, and some java moss. Added twelve rosy reds after cycling and found out that they were pretty well infected. No surprise there. Took surviving 6 and transferred to the 10 gallon hospital tank. Treated as best we could and they are all doing fine there after 3 months. Added some long-finned zebra danio's to the 20 gallon hex.

Started up the 70 gallon tank. Substrate in, initial plants arrived and set in approximate locations. They are taking root now and showing new growth. Currently cycling the tank before adding any fish. Also want to get the plants set in final positions for now before adding fish as well.

Thats where I am at today.

Thanks for making it so easy to register here. Some sites have not found out how to do that.

Hi, Fishytales!

You're in a whole new world now! Be sure to take a dipnet down to some local waters and sample a bit if you can. The aquatic diversity (both FW and SW) in the coastal Carolinas is very high, especially compared to Cape Cod. You may find some new critters to keep that will put most of the old pet-trade standbys to shame!

:welcome: to AC! My mom's family is from the Cape area, so every year I make it a habit to visit the ocean out there. Always amazing. Anyway, welcome again and I know you'll find this an amazing site.

Welcome to Aquaria Central. I hope you enjoy your stay. There are so many people here that are so willing to help out when you least expect it. I have found this site and the people here to be very helpful and genuinely concerned for your tanks and ways to help you out in any way they can. All you need to do is ask and there is always someone there to help. Hope you like it here.
