I just got my king tiger pleco on Friday and I haven't seen him eat anything. I have tried wafer, zucchini and shrimp. How long can they go without eating?? My other plec - a gold nugget loves to eat - even in full light he will come out for a bite of zucchini. Any suggestions?

Most plecs are nocturnal, try feeding after lights out. He may gradually adjust to eating with the lights on or not. I have a "scribble" (not sure of ID) that is very light shy after 18 months.

Do you have lots of caves for the 2 new plecs? The gold nugget may be intimidating if they are together, try feeding both tank ends.

A healthy fish can go for more than a week without feeding so give him some time to adjust.

I have 2 rock caves and I'm soaking a large mopani wood right now, but it will probably be a while before I put it in the tank as I want to get as much of the tannins out as possible. The King Tiger (also known as Scribble Pleco i think) - we affectionately named him French Fries, look fine. I am hoping he will start eating soon. Is feeding once a day ok for these guys or should I do it once every other day?

They are meat eaters. Try frozen blood worms or any sinking meaty food such as earthworm sticks or shrimp pellets.

I have L260, a different scribbled. She is also a meat eater, and I have NEVER seen her come out of her cave. I had to vac under once, I saw a blur and she was gone. I have seen her with a flash light. She is alive and well. She just wont come out if there is any light or movement outside the tank...

That's amazing! It is unfortunately that these gorgeous fish are hardly ever seen...:) My gold nugget is not shy at all though. I will continue to try to get some food to him.

Ijust got some frozen bloodworms today... but how do you feed them? Do you just thaw and put some in the tank?

I put them into a small strainer, run cool water to defrost and rinse out the red stuff and feed. You can use a turkey baster to put the worms near the cave/hiding spot right before lights out.
