OK, so the latest flier to come home in my children's hands...
the 2008 disabled veterans walk.
Now, I have no issues with disabled veterans, nor do I have issues with any function drawing attention or raising funds for them. '
The issue here is, that there is a picture of a guy in a wheel chair on the big face of the flier that says 2008 veterans walk.
maybe its me, ..maybe Its just my kids who wonder how that guy is gonna "walk"
I at least got a good chance to teach my kids about diversity, ..however. If you could read these papers, ..you guys would just die giggling.
seriously, I am assuming, that I may have to go in there and proof read, and edit all informational papers before they send them home.
The irony is killing me here though, ..I think, i might have to call the teachers and annoy them, maybe then, they will think i was spanked as a child. :wall:

I believe the idea is to raise awareness. Just as many folks without cancer participate in such fund raisers or do other activities on these "walks".
Actually, I am quite pleased that a school would support this type of activity in this day and age of open hostility towards the military in general. It is a wonder the some left wing nut hasn't tried to shut it down.

I would certainly agree with that, being an ex soldier myself...I would love to see more events where i live such as this...i think they are great...

JM isn't it obvious to you that the picture is showing who you are walking for?
I think its funnier that you couldn't figure that one at.
I don't always agree with the wars these guys are fighting but I will always respect the fact that they are doing it for what they consider are good reasons among themselves.

hey! I understood it just fine thank you.
the issue is, that they are expecting the small kids they are sending this home with to understand. I had to explain to my 4 year old son why the guy was in a chair, and how it all made sense.
My problem with it is, That they should proof read the fliers. No other point.
The front says 2008 veterans walk.
It depicts a man in a wheelchair. the man is not wearing any military regalia , nor does it say disabled on the cover.
When you open it up, it says 2008 disabled veterans walk. It goes on to explain why you are walking to benefit the veterans. Then...
You see another man in a wheelchair with a man walking alongside him. I guess, like i said, if you read, and saw what I was looking at you would understand it more. It really needed proof read. It should have never been sent out, with small children the way it was.
I explained to my son, what it was for. My daughter was smart enough to understand anyway.
There are other people in this town, who aren't intellectually up to understanding this, i can assure you. I just don't understand why people don't look at what they are printing.
I guess again, they are just to busy being annoyed by abused students.

ya but usually the people the event is for ,dont actually participate, because your helping them.. so what would be wrong with a charity eye spy event for the blind??
