People make me so sick, how could you hit something and not at least try to see if it's ok?
I hope they can raise enough to save her.

I just don't understand people!! The only animal I have ever hit with my car is a woodchuck and I cried when I killed that, I couldn't imagine hitting a dog and not stopping to try to help it. :angryfire: People do suck!

I've had four cats that have been hit (and killed) and nobody stopped. Five was a cat that would scratch at the door to come sleep on my bed, and loved to stay with me. He was hit by not one, but TWO cops (who never stopped). Six is my cat with three legs. No one stopped for him, either.

Happens way too much.

i would hate to hit any kind of animal with my car,i dont drive, but i mean id feel pretty bad..... but stopping on a freeway to help a dog you just smoked with your car at 100 k/m s and hour?? youve got to think about your safety as wel as the safety of others passing... however, dwarf puffers if your cats where hit around your house, then i dont understand why people didnt stop either.

ive seen a cat get hit, and nobody stopped. they just drove over him so they wouldnt run over him with their wheels. the poor cat lifted his head and looked like a character in a cartoon that just got punched with his head spinning, not rly knowing what was going on.... while the cars were just driving over him, avoiding their wheels hitting him.
me n my friends made the cars stop and brought the cat to the vet and he lived. then we found his owners.

idk, there are some people who stop to help. idk why a lot of people dont though. i guess they just dont really care or dont think they have the time.

ive also had a dog get hit by a car and die.. the driver didnt stop.

also, there was a time me n a few people were driving behind someone on a main road.
a fox or something like that ran across the road all of a sudden right in front of the car that was in front of us.
the car slammed on its brakes and skidded a bit, just missing the fox.. but we almost rear ended the car.
they hit the gas quick right in time... a few seconds after slamming on their brakes.

talk about quick reactions lol.
i had to move a big turtle across the road once. thing almost bit me. some old man in the driveway across the street that i didnt notice was there said "good job!"

there are some good people out there.

easydoesit.... youve gotta be messed up to hit an animal purposly,or not stop if possible. but slamming on the breaks with other people behind you( not directed at you obviously ) , in my opinion that is iresponsible, and pretty stupid, putting your life as well as others lives in danger. is it really worth it? thats just me anyways.

crazy canuk..you are not alone.

while I do not condone hitting an animal with a car ..or any other vehicle..
there are times when it is not safe to try and stop.
there are times when the choice is made..save an animal or risk a life of a human.

if you can not stop then go sown the road until you can pull over and go back and get the animal
it is just so messed up to hit an animal and let it suffer in pain and do nothing about it
i mean i once moved a snapping turtle across the road with a snow shovel even though once he got out he bit at the shovel and completely ruined it

Obviously, it was safe enough for someone to stop...

I have to go with "people suck" and the sincere hope that Karma revisits those that didn't give hitting this poor dog a second thought.

it was the car that was in front of us that slammed the brakes. they just saw the animal and reacted, then saw us behind them and reacted. it happened mad quick.
idk, if it was either a persons life or an animals, obviously youd choose to save a persons.. unless it was someone horrible.

Hitting animals with your car isn't fun. I've hit two racoons in my life and felt horrible about it. I couldn't stop for them because there is no way they would let me help. They would tear my up afraid I was going to harm them.

It wasn't the drivers fault that they hit the dog. I would have to blame the owners on this one. Why was the dog on or near a highway in the first place? Obviously the dog is a stray since no one claimed it. Secondly it's a pitbull! Yes I know pitbull make greats pets if you train them and take care of them correctly, however, if the pitbull has no collar I'm not going near it! You don't know how that dogs attitude is and after hitting it with a car and then putting it in an enclosed space with you could be deadly to you! Thirdly, how are you going to stop in the middle of a highway? Your going 70-80mph, you would have to turn around and then turn around again hoping not to miss the animal and when you get out of the car you risk being struck by another car. I'm sorry but the people that hit the dog made the right decision and I'm betting they called someone to take care of it, I'm hoping so atleast.

If the dog got hit in a neighborhood or even a main road that is 45-55mph then they should stop. Since this is a highway I don't blame them.

ok calm down, and as i said it wasnt directed at you,but the person infront of you ,duh( how old are you? ). and yes i agree with you a little bit, all i know is i would be thinking about the humans behind me in a car that i may kill, before the little squirrle running across the freeway... sorry like 7 human lives are more important than a dog, just the way i am. i actually think you can be charged with wreckless driving if you swerve for anything smaller than a dog.

ive got to agree with you detroit metal, i wouldnt be too kean on oickin up a random dog, you dont know what its gonna do in a situation like that, regardless of what type of dog it is. im not saying id leave the poor thing to suffer, its just some of you people on here are pretty radical about this whole thing.

Everyone will have there own opinions on this we all know. However, saying that karma will get the drivers for somthing they couldn't help is a little radical at best. Like I said who knows? Maybe they called animal control or something. I do feel bad for the dog, the owners probably didn't want to take care of it anymore took the collars off and dropped her off.

I'm in an area where there are pit owners everywhere. However, these owners use the dogs for violent purposes. There is a street near me where if I'm walking my sweet baby Sheppard/husky the owners will let their pits out of the house just to attack my dog... You might think I'm blowing this out of proportion but I'm not!

If I were to accidentally strike a pit in my car around here I wouldn't stop for it for fear that it would lash out at me if I tried to help. Pits are very loyal dogs, some pits but not all, will only act friendly if the owner is present. If the dog is by itself and you walk in it's space it will go on the offensive. What I would do is call my local animal control and let them know I hit a dog and it needs help.

On a faintly related subject, I know someone (an idiot) who ran over a pack of coyotes. Purposefully.

I knew a couple of idiots who would try to hit house hold cats... They could never get any because they were to fast but god did I yell at them. In that circumstance they deserve what's coming to them.

lol, perfectly calm. why are you asking how old I am, because I said "duh"? im probably older than you sid n nancy.
youre just confusing me with how youre responding to things ive posted in this thread..
i never said any human lives were less important than a dog's, (though im sure there are some people somewhere that are less important than a dog...) so obviously i would believe that "7 human lives are more important than a dog" as well.
and it wasnt "a little squirrel running across the freeway"
it wasnt squirrel, and it wasn't a highway.
the guy/girl in the car probably wouldnt have slammed on the brakes had they known we were there behind him.. but hey, he didnt run over the animal or cause an accident.
i know what youre getting at though. and ive already agreed.. sometimes you dont have a choice and a humans life is obviously more important than a dogs.

And thats why you should call the police and animal control on these people.

xdetroit, i didnt even see that.
thats definitely not legal. if they do it all the time, have a detec sit on the corner of the st or something and take a walk.
