I've looked online, and have found tips for refugiums, but it's not all that helpful. I saw on AquaFuge that they sell one that i want for 350$. I don't want to buy one if i can build one....especially if it's cheaper.

Have you ever built something, and it comes with pictures and diagrams and a list of tools/equipment you'll need? Well i need that b/c i have never built one before. So far, i haven't found anything very discriptive.

Can anyone help me out?

i have a 75gal...and it isnt set up yet for a reef (will do at end of summer), someone recommended i try to keep a refugium to curve my excitment down a few notches and get my hands wet in this hobby. But i was at the LFS today, and i was told that it wouldn't be cheap to do so. I was told that setting up a 20 gallon refu. would cost around 200 dollars. And thats not worth it to me yet, especially if im just keeping copipods and shrimp.

But i would want a refugium thats under the tank.

was this guy right? would it cost around 200 bucks?

If you buy everything new and deluxe from your LFS, it can cost $200. You can also do it much cheaper. My refugium probably cost <$100 including all the macroalgae, sand, and mangrove shoot. The LFS was downsizing and getting rid of some of their 20 g acrylic holding tanks for $20, so I bought one for my fuge. I bought a sheet of acrylic at Lowe's to make the baffles, used an old Mag drive pump for the return, and bought the macroalgae, sand and mangrove shoot at the LFS. The light was probably the most expensive thing I bought at probably $30. It's not pretty, but it does the job.
