View Full Version : Coworker Moving Inheriting an Angel

It's like christmas over here, a coworker is moving and we inherited another 20g long, and a (what I suspect) 32 gal tall. We also are adopting her last angel fish, who's quite old and pretty big.

Currently we have a 10g with a betta, 6 harle's, and 5 corys as well as a 20g long with about a bijillion guppies.

At the end of next school year we are moving about 20 mins away from this location. So I want to keep the tanks to a min at least until then. We have a 5g tank (has a filter and a java fern covered log), a 2.5g tank and a 15g tall both empty.

Is there some way we can consolidate? I've never had an angel before and don't intend to get a school right now (maybe after the move) I've gathered that the angel might be trouble for the betta considering the size.

I'm not really excited about setting up the 32 tall (incredibly excited about getting it tho!) My reservations are of course due to moving in a year.

Girlfriend wants to set up the 32 for the angel and get him/her some friends.
I'd prefer to set up the 15g tall move the harle's and corys to it and add the angel. Betta can take residence in the 5g (maybe get some ghost shrimp he likes those :P)

So really I'm just looking for some outside advice about the whole situation.

A 32g would be fine. No need to buy more angels. One is absolutely fine on its own. Unless you can upgrade after your move, more angels can just add to your problems. All the angel needs is some vallisneria to hide in. Harlies and cories are fine as these are large enough to avoid predation. Neons, on the other hand, and some small tetras are a different story.

set those tanks up! it's really not hard to move them, and a year is a long time to wait. heck, if i never set up a tank because i know i was moving in a year, i would have 0 instead of, oh gosh, 7 (with another one in the works and plans to move again by december). the joy of having fish in there far outweighs the 30 minute breakdown and 30 minute set up you'll have to deal with a year from now.

I agree with the girlfriend. Set up the 32 for thee angel now but forget about adding the friends with her. You can add the cories and the larger tetras so she has some friends. You can worry about tearing the tank down in a year when you move. A 32 is not that hard to move. Just think how much happier your new angel will be in the 32 and how happy you will be with the tank for the next year. This way all of you will be happy.
