My mom went out and bought me a Sea Clone SKimmer. can some people tell me about them? Junk or good? I don't want to be mean and not use it. Aaaaaaaaaaaah! I don't know what to say.

I have one its a good one IMO. But i will say its a bit of a pain in the butt to get going. but i heard that anyone is.

Even though i had one a long while ago, i would not recomend one to anyone. I would only use one on a small 20 or so gallon tank.....
I had one, I took it back shortly thereafter. I was not happy with it at all nor would I recommend one to anyone.

I actually have two, one on my 10g and one on my 32g. They seem to be working fine but I have no real comparison (the Seaclone was a step up from the Skilter I used, now that would be a whole other thread) to base my opinion on but they do get bashed a lot around here.
Will your mom actually know what it is supposed to look like out of the box?...hummm...by now you might be asking yourself what kind of trade you could do...
If all you can afford is the free one from your mom then it is the best skimmer money can buy at this time and will just have to do. Good luck with it.

If returning it isn't an option, look into 'modding' it and replacing the stock plastic air valve with a brass one. A quick search on 'Seaclone mods' should provide enough info.
As far as HOB skimmers go, the Seaclone really is on the bottom of the list. Much better alternatives are the AquaC Remoras, Octopus, and Deltec skimmers....though, a bit more expensive.

Let's just say my cup got filled twice recently and after I cleaned it out, there's been absolutely NOTHING (and there should be plenty being skimmed out) for a month. It has done this for the 3 years I've had it. I hate the dang thing. If I wasn't upgrading to a much larger tank I would have broken it into tiny little pieces by now. I wouldn't even give one to someone I despise.
