my roommate has a crayfish with eggs attached to her belly. how do you know if the eggs are fertilized, and how long should they take to hatch. they've been there at least a couple of weeks, and I would've expected them to hatch by now.

If the eggs are visible, then they're fertilized. Make sure the babies have somewhere to hide, parents will eat them without it.
Couple of weeks = #?

if she is carrying them they will be fertilised. the eggs hatch after about 30days, but mine tend to take 36 days to hatch. you/ your mate will hve to provide adaquate hiding places for them as the adults may eat them and they will eat each other. i will try and find a picture of the straw walls i made for my baby crays.

found them, and they work great the baby crays love to hide and take shelter in them.
