i have a freshwater api master kit
the cards say that it can be used for saltwter for amm, nitries, and nitrates do these work as well as the salt variety? whats the difference?

also i have a gsp in brackash at 1010.
does this kit work for full marine or not? confused. i would like to save money and not have to buy another kit if this one works well enough. ps, haven't started salt water yet, still preparing..

I purchased my API test kits for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates separately rather than consolidated under the Master Kit, and they came with saltwater cards as well (I'm not sure if the Master Kit comes with the SW cards or not).

The nitrite card reads both FW and SW while the the ammonia and nitrate test kit has separate cards for each (the difference being the shades of colors, for example the color shade for 5ppm on the FW nitrate card resembles the 10ppm color shade on the SW nitrate card, and 0ppm ammonia on the SW card doesn't resemble 0ppm ammonia on the FW card at all).

When I kept my gsp's in brackish water (I've since up'd the salinity to full marine), I'd compare the color to both the SW and FW cards and average them. For example if the color appeared to be 20ppm on the SW nitrate card and 10ppm on the FW nitrate card, I'd estimate nitrates were 15-20ppm.
