Now before we go off saying this is aptasia, I'd like for you to look at it closely. I had the aptasia show up in the tank 4 days ago and that has been flushed. I broke the rock it was in and tossed that section.
I have also seen sooooo much aptasia over the yrs that I know what it looks like. Every store in my area has it in all their tanks, I can't buy any corals without dealing with it. So far I've been lucky enough to keep my tank aptasia free. I got careless with the dead corals out of the new tank when I threw it in the refugium without watching for aptasia first. My fault there
Anyway needless to say I'm not overly terrified of the stuff, and I've seen enough of the stuff to know what it looks like hands down.
This stuff on my website was in my refugium, so it lacked light to gain pigment, so it's making it harder to id in that respect. It also has a short fat base, not like the aptasia's tall thin base. It also has a different mouth and tenacles. I seriously hesitate to toss it without a positive id on it. If anyone can steer me in a good direction, besides wet web media, been through all their pages over the last 4 days and this guy is not there.
