can i get another 2 or 3 female cichlids in there without a problem.....
also would blue claw yabbies or red claw crayfish be ok in there with what i have??? i dont care about the guppies only got them cause the missus likes them but there getting eaten which is good

they are about 10cm long if these pics arent enough i have a little video not great quality but might be good enough http://au.youtube.com/thesoul2008

Very nice looking fish there!
What size is the tank they are in (if I missed it sorry). You need more females IMO, you really need to have 3-4 females per male...the males can get pretty nasty/territorial or pick on the female if spawning happens.

I would look on Aqua bid, maybe Ebay? Maybe someone here can tell you a good breeder.

Need to know what size tank before we can give you any realistic stocking advise? It looks pretty small from the thickness of the glass but I could be wrong.

i have tried ebay but will not ship to Australia i will have a look at aqua bid now thanks for that. I have been looking for a breeder here in Australia but they are hard to find everyone seems to only stock males or will not sell there females

Wow, I didn't realize you were in Australia...yeah that makes shipping a little more difficult in some cases. I know there are some folks on here from Australia...hopefully, one will come along here and be able to help you with this.

Yeah, a 55 is big enough for a few more IMO. Paul knows what he is talking about though, so listen to him OK. I was just learning about Africans when I switched my tank over to CA's....so I know some things but not as much as others here.

If I happen to come across anything though I will let you know.

Good luck!

If you want to keep the fry, then yes it would be worth it. Once the Mom releases them they will need to be moved or they may become dinner.

how bigger tank should i get or will a net in the tank i got do?

Lady G

IMO, at least a 10g....no I don't think a net would be a good idea. Be sure to put a sponge or something over the filter intake though or maybe use a sponge filter...cause they will be very small. Actually, when my Jacob had babies, I moved her into the 10g I had set up about the time I thought she would be spitting them out, then I just moved her out after she did. Much easier then trying to watch for her to do it in the 55, then trying to find and catch the babies, as I said they are TINY..very hard to see at first.

Here are a couple shots of my babies and this was a few weeks after...they are zoomed up quite a bit, so they do look much bigger...when first let out though I could barely see them. I just love the baby pics so I had to post em, been a while since I have brought them out...lol

I honestly know nothing about those filters so I can't answer that...they look safe from what I can see, but I'd let someone else answer that for you.

Thanks, I loved the little cuties! I miss my African tank so much, but will be setting up a new one soon.

Yes, definitely keep pics and updates coming!!!
