I'm looking for a new compact flourescent strip light for my 75g tank. I found this on Big Al's, but it looks completely different from the one I've got right now. I'm wanting an additional one to what I have. Will this one work? http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18369/si1383182/cl0/coralifefreshwateraqualight48powercompactlight2x65 w

AN: No way could I answer that question without knowing what you have now.
One item to note is that the description and picture do not indicate that the fixture which you quoted has a fan.
Dual 65W fixture with a fan and a detailed product description including dimensions. (http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~action~view~idProduct~CU01006~idCatego ry~FILTFIPCFE~category~Saltwater_Aquarium_Supplies-Lighting-Fixtures-Power_Compact-48in_Units~vendor~.html)
Quad 65W fixture with 2 fans and a detailed product description including dimensions. (http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~action~view~idProduct~CU01016~idCatego ry~FILTFIPCFE~category~Saltwater_Aquarium_Supplies-Lighting-Fixtures-Power_Compact-48in_Units~vendor~.html)
The folks at Marine Depot have swapped out factory lamps for me before.
If you purchase these products I would ask for 10000K lamps unless you are saltwater.

I'm running a 75g planted and currently have a fixture that goes the length of the tank and has two 55 w compact flourescent bulbs in it. I'm wanting to add more light to the tank.

AN:
You should be OK but please check the widths of the fixtures which I linked you to.
I was kinda like you are. Had one PC, added a second PC and then added a MH.

I'm thinking I can party deal with the algae problem I'm having by adding more light and letting the plants compete with the algae for nutrients better. At least that's my theory anyway.

you shouldn't have algae problems unless you didn't have enough of something, CO2 or ferts or plants or all three.

Good light but pricey. The bulbs are very expensive to replace.

Is there an easy way to tell which? I'm dealing with hair algae (which I mentioned in some other posts). I feel I'm making some progress, but it's slow. I should also mention that some of my plants aren't doing so well. There are holes in the leaves and they're brown in some places. I want a lush green tank.

Your ferts are indeed out of balance.
I would try increasing the iron concentration some as well as the potassium concentration which I previously noted and significantly increasing the micronutrient concentration.
What is your nitrate concentration?

it sounds like you are lacking potassium, Rex Grigg sells dry ferts that should last a good while. I myself am lacking phosphates. Also check your nitrate levels, they could be low or gone too.

I think part of my problem is I haven't been dosing micro-nutrients at all. I just started dosing micro-nutrients last week. I guess the best course of action would be to just let the money for the light sit there for a month or so until I figure out whether dosing micro-nutrients is gonna fix the problem.

From the beginning of the post:
That light you linked to is made for a 48" top frame tank.
It has one fan and comes with their own brand of 6700K bulbs that are kinda green.
The pinholes in your plants are a lack of the nutrient K.
I would agree, keep dosing and get a handle on the tank before adding more light.
