Sorry for a 3 foot tank, even at 65 gal, I wouldn't be looking at any american cichlids.

How about Lake Tanganyikan shelldwellers or rather apistogrammas with other community fish such as pencilfish?

Festivum, angels, or keyhole with a school of larger tetra. Maybe Discus if you lose the CAE.
