Ok, just got my new tank and LR set up yesterday, the what has cleared and looks like everything is set to go. What can I use to clean off the inside of the glass (well acrylic actually) since the set up left some deposits on it? I'd use a paper towel but wasn't sure what is SW safe.

acrylic mag float? keep it far far away from the sand to not scratch it or get something else. iw ouldn't use paper towels because they can leave behind stuff I don't want in my tank. I would probably use a mag float away from the sand regularly and have something else to get down towards the sand as really needed.

Mag Float

I agree with Mandy21. I use a mag float myself and it works great. My 5 yr old daughter loves to clean the glass with it. Just make sure you get the right one. The one made for glass will scratch acrylic, even though it says it will work on both.

Here is the one I use:

:headshake2: wouldn't use a razor on acrylic.

Use a Kent pro scraper but with the red plastic tip not the yellow with the metal. Works great.

We use a plastic scraper with scowering pad on one side , sure it takes a long time but we are afraid our daughter will scratch with the mag.

I do the same as most everyone else: An ACRYLIC mag float, and a plastic scraper down by sand. Both of them keep your hands out of the tank.

I like having my hands in the water so I just use a sponge or that fine mesh thing that some people put over theie mag-floats.
