Hey everyone........I'm just not having very good luck with my live plants. The only ones I'm using right now is Anacharis and Water Wisteria. It seems that within 2 months, all of the leaves come off my Wisteria and its just the stems left. However, there are a lot of "new" bright green leaves forming on the stems now.

The Anacharis grows fast, but then seems to just deteriorate. I had most of it planted, but now I have a few strands floating.

I have a 55g tank with a 130w Compact Flourescent light. I have had a large outbreak of algae lately. Do I need to be adding ferts or anything?

Also, to help battle the algae, I was thinking of going today and buying a lot of Wisteria and Anacharis to see if it would help. Would this be a good idea? I will be cleaning the entire tank in about a week or so, so would it be okay to still get the plants today? Thanks!

I would suggest doing a fertilization routine (check www.rexgrigg.com I use his ferts and the EI dosing schedule) and adding carbon either via co2 or excel. I'm curious what are your water parameters?

my guess is that u need to introduce some co2 into your setup...i did that and my plants just took off and the algea is not as bad

Adding ferts will keep your tank cleaner. I noticed that my tank has less algae after ferts added. Don't forget water changes too. Make a schedule and stick to it.
Post your water parameters, temp, tank size, and light. A picture would be helpful as well. Someone from AC will help you out then.
