I don't know if any of you would remember but I had the snail with the cracked shell who got stuck in an ornament. He was doing well, and 2 days ago stopped eating and was semi-closed laying on his side. I moved him to a 3 gallon by himself, and after being in the same spot in that same position I'm sure he is dead. I'm going to leave him until tomorrow to make absolutely 100% sure. He was a Petsmart snail and they are not in the best shape to start out with that already was a strike against him. Thanks for all who gave their support. I'm going to miss that little guy.

I am so terribly sorry to hear about Andy. I really was pulling for him. Please make sure he is dead before disposing of him. I am so so sorry :(

So sad. I've heard they can kind of hibernate, so maybe if he's still alive a little warmer water might inspire him to move. But it sounds like the end of Andy. I know how warm hearted you are about your critters from your other posts, so I'm sure you are feeling bad, I'm sorry about Andy.

I was hopeful that he was hibernating too and I did change some of the water so I could reach a temp of 75 to 76. He is partially open and since last night the fleshy part seems to be shrinking. I certainly wouldn't be hasty about disposing him. Thanks for the kind words.

I'm so sorry. I have been watching for updates on Andy. Our critters are our babies and it is hard losing even the smallest.

I use the 'smell test' to make sure that a snail is dead. You don't need to try pulling the trap open, or poking the snail. Just pick up the snail and take a whiff. If the snail is dead, it doesn't even need to be that close to your nose to tell (dead snails smell very, very bad).

they do smell soooo bad....sorry to hear Andy didnt pull though, was routing for him R.I.P
