I finally got some decent pictures of my fish. Check out my 2 picture albums and let me know what you think. Im trying to figure out what some of them are. So, if you know, let me know. This is my first large tank, and my first experiance with African Cichlids. They all live, except one, in a 75 gallon tank, that has been setup for close to 7 months now. I plan to switch to live plants soon, and construct some type of rock backgroud. ENJOY!!

your "giraffe looking" fish is actually called a giraffe cichlid heres some info about him. http://www.adelaideaquariums.com.au/Faqs/freshwater/fish/africich/Venustus.html also as your fish get larger/sexually mature, and more acclimated to their tank, you'll find that more of them can change colors. in fact, most cichlids can. its a part of their mating habits, and their territoriality. ;)

Sweet stuff, and getting that many cichlids to get along well enough in one tank is no small feat. Took a lot of community fish (tetras) and plant life to get my 3 semi-aggressive cichlids from always nipping at each other (and they still do it, but for the most part they seem to 'hang' out now).

oh, yeah. if you want to put live plants in with them, expect for them to get eaten. dont spend too much money on plants and only put in one or two at a time until you can see whether or not theyll eat them. try to use plants with fairly thick leaves. also, you might want to try potted plants, or use non leaded weights, because theyll dig them up.

Just wanted to thank you all for the help. I appreciate your compliments on my little guys. They all look forward to getting a more knowledgeable keeper. This forum is awesome. I've been spending a lot of my time just browsing the topics. Thanks to you all.
btw, I'm still missing the identity of some of my fish, so if you know what they are, please let me know.
on a sad note:
Yesterday I came home from work to find my Giraffe cichlid had passed away. Really upsetting considering I constantly monitor these guys and didn't even see the slightest bit of problem with him. He was one of my larger cichlids, and was roughly 5-6 months old to me, about 5 inches long. My first fish death in a long time, and my first one of this size that has died. I've been trying to learn how to keep a perfect environment for them, so I just feel like its my fault. My only guess at what kill him is stress. I just did a 60% water change about 7 days ago, and maybe he just couldn't handle the conditions. I was also putting very small doses of medication in the tank, for my rainbow cichlid, he had a patch of white on his mouth I was thinking was bad. This particular fish is doing better. Really caught me off guard, since he looked very healthy. When I found him, he was almost solid white, lost all his pattern, and had his mouth wide open. Anyway, im bummed about it. Any ideas for what I should do to help this not happen again? btw, I did a 25% water change last night, thinking it would help, in case the water is bad. Also, I do weekly water test, and I've never had any ammonia , or nitrate problems. ph is in the low 8's .

sorry to hear that woop :(
as for identifications...
the fish you have labeled as Red is and Aulonocara of some type. And shes a female(she wont get any color).
Skinny is a Placidochromis of some sort(could be electra or phenochilus), most likely a female as well. Im guessing its a Placidochromis phenochilus.
Ozzy is a Cyphotilapia frontosa
Pinky is an albino zebra
OJ looks like a Maylandia estherae.
and big fish is a Victorian hap of some sort.
