I have only visited a couple of other forums in the past and they were related to performance mods for cars. I have seen too many times that if you don't roll just like they do you are getting bashed. You better have the same ride, set up the same way or you have just done things wrong.
I compare those two places to AC and breathe a big sigh of relief. Differences here are appreciated and even admired. Just because your a salty doesn't mean you can't appreciate a nice planted tank or anything else. I check general chit chat regularly and see people bring up all sorts of topics. Seems to always be positive comments and genuine caring. "keep your chin up, things will get better."
AC and its members ROCK!!
This was actually prompted by a buddy of mine who told me of some ignorant comments that were posted and kinda hurt his feelings(although he would probably not admit it). I wish he could find a group as good as you guys!!

Vice versa however....ahem.

Just because you do it one way doesn't mean you can't appreciate the other ways.
Is that better Sploke? You know it's all good! I've read enough of your posts to know you're plenty open minded!

No no, what I was saying is that there are a few freshies who like to bash us salties...all in good fun of course. We take it though, cause we know they're just jealous :D

I agree, think the mods here do a great job keeping the members in check. I've checked boards at places like RC and have seen better behavior in barroom fights. Not to say the little squabbles don't happen here. But the name calling and the majority viewpoint isn't always taken as strongly or forcibly as some other forums.

Nothing wrong with a little harassment to keep the mood fun. That is how me and the Mrs. get along. Even little squabbles, if well mannered, just go to illustrate our passions, right?

Fake squabbles are fun. That's how my fiance and I get along sometimes, lol.
Really, the atmosphere over here really is more friendly.

I agree with you. What brought me here is when I joined my first Aqua Forum. I was like Hi! Here is my new 40 tank and my fish! I have a 4" BGK I <3 him!
Then replies were.
OMG a BGK are you stupid?! Your stunting all your fish!
I replied.
What? No, the pet store said it would be fine. He's so small but I'll get a big tank for him in the future!
Next reply
Ya Michael Vick said he wasn't doing anything wrong either!
At that point I told them all to go blow.
I know what you mean about the Car forums too. However, I'm a Corvette owner and Corvette owners really stick together. You can create a huge muscle car, or do a few small mods like sound system and rims, or you can try to make a complete original and we all think it's cool. We are all divided by the era of car. Mine being the C4. We do bash the other era saying ours is better than yours but like here it's in good fun. Once we all go to a Corvette show we meet each other and say nothing but good things about the cars. I see other car forums and it's as you say it is... I dunno, it might be the age thing. Most Corvette owners are 25+ versus Civic's where they are 16+ and think Turbos and ground effects are everything.

Actually, just ground effects, a new muffler(or just an exhaust tip), and a few stickers. They fail to realize it's still going to be Honda tomorrow.

Civic kids always say, "Wow nice car what do you have done?" I tell them what I did and they stare at my blankly and stay quiet a few seconds and reply, "Well, I'm gonna get a turbo!" I say, "Oh cool. Where you going to get it tuned at so you don't blow up the motor?" Plus other turbo know how. They stare at me again and say, "Tuned?"
Mind you, my first car was a Ford Ranger Splash 2.5L RWD. The tires were slicks when I first got it so when it rained I slid into a fence. I ended up buying aftermarket body parts because it was cheaper than stock. I did all the work myself and had a Truck Ricer!

I am actually jealous of the Civic kids. The aftermarket has embraced those cars so much you can find anything you want. I can't seem to find a stand alone engine management system for my Saab 9 3 to save my skin!! Perhaps it is for the best though, my "want" list is ever growing as is anyway!!

I wouldn't upgrade anything like that IMO. Id rather save for something worthwhile in the future. If it's clean and looks nice just drive it. Body stuff is nice because the resale value stays the same. You don't get your money back. I bought my ranger for 2k did the body work and sold it for 2k and then bought a grand am SE for 2k. Now I'm going to sell my grand am for around 3.5k and pick up a grand prix GTP as the winter car.
Anyway ya... This fish forum rulzorz!

I have to agree...this is a wonderful site, and the members well they are great, mods are the best!!!
I am a member at 4 other fish sites, this is my "home" so to say...I'm here everyday, the others I just go to once in a while except one of the others I go to everyday also...just not as much, well I flip back and forth between the 2 alot (MFK).
Anyway, my point was going to be, as far as friendliness, feeling welcome and anything else in that field, yeah...this is the best site around!
