At the CNN Science News page (http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/science/08/29/venezuela.fish.reut/index.html) I'm just seeing for the first time the new species of Bloodfin Tetra, Aphocharax yakwanae from the upper reaches of the Caura River, a Venezuelan tributary of the Orinoco. The whole rear half of the fish is bright blood red!
If these came to the aquarium market, they'd make a strong competitor for familiar Bloodfins. Imagine a school of forty of these!

That would be a beautiful school...but I don't have $1000 to drop for a few more years yet...can you imagine being the first breeder of these? :)

Who else would like to see a pic of all the new discoveries, a PUNK Catfish intrigues me the most!

That one is pretty intriguing, but the fruit piranha is the one that I would like to see.
I feel like such a geek. I want to know if the new shrimp will be a usefull tank cleaner.

When I got my own house (which seems to be getting further and further away), I wanna set up a 400+ piranha tank... be sweet to set it up specifically as that riiver setup.
