a while back a corn snake i had escaped and i thought he was gone. well he came back, but to a different cage. he got on my lania, into the finch cage, and ate one. my favorite one too. now im freaking out because my other birds are at risk. yellow rat snakes get to be five feet long, and an expensive parrot would just be lunch. that snake is lucky that i didnt lose my temper. i dont know what to do. i dont want to lose the others

Whoa. Well I think you should go and buy a cage trap and lure him in it;otherwise call the snake people and let them handle him

i already caught him. he was just big enough to eat a finch ie pretty small. but the yellow rat snakes are massive. the biggest one i know of is gentle, but im sure faced to a meal she would change fast

Once he eats one, I'm sure he wouldn't be able to get out until his lunch starts to digest, which might take awhile if there's no heat lamp or rock. So do you still have yellow rat snake on the loose too?

whoa whoa whoa. I live in florida. they are everywhere. ther must be 20 just on my land. the corn snake i got esaped, came back, ate my finch, and now i put him in a cage. i also have a yellow rat snake, but hes under maximum security. im worried about the wild ones. corn snakes get to be about three and a half feet. yellow rat snakes get to be 6 feet. yellow rat snakes are really strong, corn snakes are fast. i am worried for good reason

Wrap some screen around the birdcages..

that would be the worst thing to do, screens uaually contain lead and zinc..top killers of pet birds.

can't help ya, but i have a similar story to share.

my friend used to bring her ball pythons outside and let them hang out in the yard sometimes during the summer. one time she got distracted by one of her kids and when she came back her smaller snake was gone. about 8 weeks later she's reaching underneath the kitchen sink when a snake bites her. she starts freaking out, and then suddenly thinks - maybe i should see what kind of snake it is before i call an ambulance? she checks, and there's her missing python, fat and sassy after a whole summer of living 'wild' and eating mice outside in the mountains of NC.

i had a ball pyhton get lost for 2 years and end up 3 floors below me in the basement under a washing machine..fat and BIG!..they even called the cops..who were terrified, LOL
