right now i have a 55g with
1 jack dempsey
1 Firemouth
1 Pleco
4 Giant Danios
i like my tank as it is, its very active, and the fish are very healthy. I'd like to add a Convict.
will it fit comfortably? or am i at my limit?

I think that you'd take a little too much of a risk by adding another fish to that tank, especially one as aggressive as a Con.

how big is pleco, JD and firemouth?
and im assuming you have a common pleco?
but if they are fairly small they should get along fine cause thye will grow up and not fight too much, but if they are fairly good size like 4"+ then i would add sumthing a little less agressive. bkuz convicts are nasty little buggers. it would also depend on how aggressive your JD is and how big his territory is. but they could all coexhist technically.
if you go thru with it i would take out the JD and firemouth for a day or so and put the firemouth back in first then the JD then the con. all within an hour or so of each other. then they wil have a chance to get their territories with the least aggressive fish first. that way you should have the lesat problems .

pleco is about 4-5 inches
JD is about 4-5 inches
firemouth is about 2-3 inches
the JD and the Firemouth get along fine now...but it was a rough first 2 weeks for the FM when i added him to the tank.....taking the JD and FM out to add a convict isn't an option as my other tank is a 10g tank with a goldfish.
i'll probably leave the tank alone
appreciated!
