you are right. Yellow sponge. An exact species wouldnt really be possible without an extreme close up. or allowing it some time to grow. But it wouldnt really matter, as they pretty much all have the same requirements.

If it has some green tones in the yellow colour it's often called "pineapple sponge". But that's only a popular name not a species name.

you're going to confuse people with that as it is also a common name for Q-Tip sponges, and one that is more widely used.

The structure here looks a little different, as canariensis seems to have more of a multiple tubular structure, at least the ones I have seen. But it is a possibility.
That is pretty bold of you even giving a species name without a close-up of the "skeletal" structure. Well played, nikko. ;) haha

Well, until now, when I had a little Web search, I didn't know that people call syconoid sponges Q-Tip sponges nor even pineapple sponges.
:headshake2:
What kind of whitish pineapples do they eat, actually?
They may be referring to the shape, only. But I said greenish-yellowish colour.
I saw once a sponge looking like Clathrina canariensis called "pineapple sponge".
And mine are rather box-like shaped, the bigger one the size of a thumbnail and yellow-greenish in colour. The bigger one has a little tube coming out of it and the smaller one is only a tiny unstructured mass.
As I got also Caulastrea frags that some people call "torch coral" but they're different from that what most people call "torch coral",
:grinyes:
I'll avoid in future the term "pineapple sponge". Too much popular ...
:silly:
Thanks, Nikko, for knowing now to have Clathrina canariensis in my tank.
