55 gallon display tank w/ 30 gallon sump. Price range around $200.

for that price, look into a CPR bakpak skimmer...my father has one on his tank and it seems to do ok, with no real hassles

See if you can find a used ASM G1 or G2 skimmer.

You might want to look into the Octopus Skimmers.

Ditto on the Octopus Skimmers. The larger models are getting good reviews.
I have that octopus skimmer and it dose a great job and on reefining the australian way web site someone asked about octopus skimmers and 18 pages later about 95% of people recomend them.

Not sure on the price, but etss makes a new one called the sump buddy. I have two of the 800's and I really like them. If they work like the 800, I'd be happy.

I'm running a Bermuda BPS-C3 on my 150G and now that it's breaking in it seems to be working good.
