I have a 30 gallon SW setup with a few pounds of live rock still cycling. I have an air stone and pump connected that im told REALLY needs to leave. I know I also need power heads. the question is: how many do i need? I assume just two would work... pointing one towards the surface of the water in one direction and the other pointed more towards the mid level of the tank in the opposite direction... basically pointed at eachother, only one current on the upper level and the other opposite. and i thought the air stone would be good for oxygen but hey, im still pretty new to SW. Know plenty about FW, I use to sell FW fish at a Super Wal-Mart and quit because they knew as much about fish as they did about giving their workers good hours and benefits. but yeah.... just wondering.

Hello! I guess this thread answers my question on your thread on lighting :) with a 30 I would go with either 2 Maxijet 900's and a HOB filter like a Aquaclear 110 for carbon and filter floss..this is what i had in my 29g when i first started..altho the Koralia powerheads are much nicer and have a more dispersed flow for a little bit more money...go with 2 Koaralia #2 I had this along with the aquaclear 110 HOB on my 40B and a Maxi jet 900 and it was perfect flow

For reef tank I would shoot for 25x turnover at least, so whatever you need to give you 750gph of flow.

I'd personally shoot for 750-1200 gph, but that's just me.
