will this (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?siteid=6&pCatId=9821) filter work on an AGA 2.5 gallon? I know it will filtrationwise, but in the picture is it shown on a Azoo tank. Will it fit over the lip of the aquarium?

If you have any experience with this filter, or would like to reccomend a different filter, please leave a message here!

Thanks

Aaron

Aaron, I know that Petco has this little tank set up, I was interested in the whole setup but changed my mind once I saw it ($30), smaller than I thought. I did not look closely enough to tell you if it would fit the lip, but I imagine it would be. Go to your local Petco and check it out. I was interested in the pump because the site indicates it can be used for up to a 5 gallon tank.
I can however recommend the Nano filter from Red Sea. Here is an address to a good pix and description
http://www.aquariumguys.com/nanofilter.html. I got it at a local store (Roseville) for about $10 with tax. I have been running it on a fish bowl with 2 - 1.5" goldfish, 2 dwarf frogs and a snail. Then upgraded their bowl to a 5 gallon bow front and use it on that instead of the huge intank filter the tank came with. It is VERY Quiet. Has an adjustable flow, I have it set low and it makes a wonderful ripple. You need a coin to assist in the flow control which is no big deal, once set forget it. It does take a minute or 2 for the air to cycle thru and you need to help it out by filling the filter chamber with water before powering it up, but once it is going, ultimate quiet. I have also seen a 4 pack of the filter inserts for $5 at Pets Supply Plus. After shipping the cheaper online prices would probably be the same. It comes with an extension tube which I did not use when it rested (obviously not properly but I got it to work) on the bowl, but do use in the 5 gallon tank.
All in all a great little filter that can even be used for additional filtration, circulation.
I also use an ELITE mini in-tank filter, I really like this one too, but it was too strong even set on lowest setting for my frogs. In the bigger tank though I do use it set more near the top and back where it provides ample current and the fish and frogs like to play in its flow. (but can still escape it due to positioning.) This may be too stong for a 2.5 gallon tank. Good luck and PM me if you have further questions.
