Hey guys.......I have been trying to grow Wisteria for a while now and I'm not having much luck. I absolutely love it because it gets so bushy and looks awesome at my LFS. I have a 55 gallon tank with a 130 watt compact flourescent light. I'm trying to not have to do ferts or Co2.

My Anacharis and Hornwort grow nicely. When I first purchase the Wisteria, it is big and bushy like I want. Within 2 months, almost all of the leaves are gone and I'm left with ugly stems.

However, there are now a lot of bright green leaves forming on the stems. There are more coming on, but at a very slow rate. Does this mean they are going to eventually start "reforming"?

I want this plant to really take over and give me a jungle. The Hornwort is already growing FAST like I want, but not the Wisteria. What do I need to do? Thanks!

Wisteria's easy to grow, but it does need some nutrients in the water. You have 2.36 wpg of light, which is fine, but you need to feed it. It's probably taken what it can from what's in the tank, and, between it and the hornwort, there's nothing for it. I think you need to consider dosing some fertilizers.

Oh, and the little green leaves mean it's indeed trying to grow. You just need to help it. :)

You have plenty of light. I'd look at adding some ferts.

This is with 1-2x per month Flourish and Excel dosing and under 1 WPG. I have to trim it almost weekly.

Hooked Newbie - I just have to say it --- I LOVE your avatar. That baby is soooo cute!!!!:nilly:

Well I just got back from my LFS. I asked them if they had any fertilizer or anything to help my plants and they gave me a bottle of Jungle Plant Saver. It says it adds electrolytes to the water. They said that is what they use to keep their plants healthy, and theirs always look amazing, so I figured I'd try it. I bought 2 more bundles of Wisteria today so I hope this stuff helps!

I was scared this wouldnt be what I needed. She did say they didn't have any tablets or anything like that, so they gave me this. What kind of ferts would you recommend I get for Hornwort and Wisteria?

For those I think you can keep it simple and go with a bottle of Flourish. It's not as cost effective in the long run as dry ferts, but unless you have alot of tanks or high maintenance plants it should be all you need.
