Does anyone run spraybars? I was thinking of running one on the return line from my sump once I get it up and running. I have read mixed reviews on them. I see them used at a bunch of the LFS. They are home made of course. Was seeing what everyone here thought about them. Have read some that they are a place for nitrates to build up.

I was just running this set up on my 75G and it was very nice to keep the surface broken up and water moving along.

I liked it and also have one set up on my current return plumbing. It's just a small piece of 1/2" tubing with holes drilled in. I have it vertically behind the rock wall to promote flow through the rock at different spots.
I bought this set up as well, that is where the one section is from...

I liked it and still like the way it creates flow and circulates the surface if you don't have a surface skimmer of some type.

I have spraybars coming out from my overflow...does the job just fine. I'm saving up for a wavebox though...I don't want to bulk my tank with powerheads. = )

I had one but then replaced it with a directional nozzle.
The main problem which I had was that a lot of "gunk" would build up in the spraybar. I would have to clean it out periodically and sometimes when I did a water change it would spray out the gunk when the pump from my sump/refugium started again.
I supplemented my sump outflow with a couple of powerheads which seem to give me better coverage.

I still plan on having powerheads was just trying to get an idea of what I wanted to put on the return line from the sump

I personally can't stand spraybars. They do nothing but severely reduce much needed flow volume (and pressure). You trade all of that for little benefit. I prefer a nice, wide outlet--or, if necessary, a wider diameter adjustable outlet (i.e. made of something like locline).
