oh! I forgot ..the blue looks brighter cause I took the pics when all 8 T-5's were on..the colors do seem to pop more with the black..hmmmm

I've used black on my second tank and do prefer it. Like you say - it makes the colours "pop"!!!

I just did the opposite. The verdict is still out for me. Yours looks great either way.

i had black on my 37g and loved it, then i got my 75g acrylic and the back acrylic is blue - i wished at first it wasn't because i wanted black... however now i love the blue and think the colors pop just as nicely. plus my orange linkia looks AWESOME on the blue! it really is hard to say with your pics because the blue looks better (as you said with the lighting it looks brighter)... i do keep the back clean now which i think looks a lot better on the blue, if you want coraline on the back glass i'd go black personally...

The black background looks great in the third pic you posted. It brings out the purple rock more.

black does exaggerate the colors more..

The blue makes the tank overall brighter with more energy. I choose blue for that specific setup. I have a blue bg on my 120 and it's great. Where as I have a black bg on my 37 and it fits that one better as well.

I think for saltie tanks, the blue is a must

I agree. I've always preferred blue for salt tanks. Just reminds me of the ocean. :)
Black (or even green), is an absolute must for freshy tanks, however. Never liked the blue in freshwater. lol...go figure.
