I am getting some brown/red algae on my sand only (little on the rocks, but only in two specific spots and less than an inch each). No water problems.

ph 8.2
alkalinity 10
calcium 410 (finally!)
phosphates 0
nitrites 0
nitrates 0
temp 77-81

> 30x flow in the tank currently, plenty of flow on the sand. Algae is growing in high flow and low flow spots without any noticeable difference.

Any suggestions? I am hesitant to start using chemicals. I've been manually removing the slime everyday with a rake. It has become more brown than red in the last few days, don't know if that means anything.

I've had my LFS on the lookout for a diamon watchman goby for me for awhile now because they are less likely to smother corals with their sand dropping I've read. Been awhile though and they still have not found me one :\

Are goby's the only fish that will eat red/brown algae?

Not sure they eat it.. They may just turn over the sand to the alga's great detriment.
